We strongly suspect this to be old Long John blending stock which ended up forgotten due to the change of brand ownership in 1981. If true, the peated backbone of this malt is 70’s Laphroaig, some incredible lost distilleries and overall a symphony of blending malts from distilleries that produced some of their best vintages in the 70’s. Certainly every old school Scotch whisky lover will be blown away by this one. Typical tropical fruits, funky peat and old sherry cask nuances that we otherwise only know from tasting very old bottlings at the occasional whisky fair. Lots of rich, sugary toffee, tropical fruits and a hint of very old peatsmoke. Baked orchard fruits, dried fruits, hazelnuts, chocolate and pipe tobacco
