For our 8th bottling from this oft-overlooked Highland distillery, we decided to mix things up a bit and marry together two distinct casks. To create this unique expression, we took a cask of Ardmore 2009 that we have been sitting on since August 2021, and blended it, almost 50/50, with a cask of Ardlair 2010 that we received almost exactly two years ago. For the uninitiated, Ardlair is the unpeated variant of Ardmore, typically reserved for blending but occasionally stepping into the spotlight via independent bottlers.

This multi-vintage ensemble, carefully diluted to 48.5% ABV, is a symphony of flavours. The union of peated and unpeated styles didn’t mellow Ardmore’s signature smoky riffs; instead, the Ardlair’s presence amplifies tropical fruit notes, creating a harmonious and polyphonic expression.

Nose: Coal bunker, charred mango, BBQ gristle, distant bacon, dates, coriander, melon skin with white grapes and lemongrass, water brings out lilac and eucalyptus

Palate: Yellow tropical fruits, Bundaberg, quite oily and buttery, chillies, tobacco, gooseberries coated with bitumen, dry white wine

Finish: Concentrated finish with ripe stone fruits, ointments and lapsang souchong
